Subsector Sourcebook 1: Cascadia Updated!

The Cascadia Update Project is now complete!  If you have purchased Subsector Sourcebook 1: Cascadia at DTRPG or RPGNow, you should be able to go to your updates page and download the new version.

When we first published Cascadia over two years ago, we intended it to fit in with the usual Traveller setting in the far future.  However, as time passed and we felt comfortable putting out our Clement Sector setting, Cascadia no longer "fit" with the rest of our products.  Franklin, Hub, Sequoyah and the Colonies are all firmly based in our Clement Sector setting.  Cascadia was the odd man out.

So we went forward with the Cascadia Update Project.  In doing so, we not only brought Cascadia into alignment with the other subsector sourcebooks and our Clement Sector setting, we also repaired some errors, fixed some grammar and added all new art and maps.  We think you'll be pleased.

If you have bought Cascadia at DTRPG or RPGNow before, go download the new version and see what you think.  If you haven't bought it yet, now is the perfect time to check it out!

This version of Cascadia will soon be available at other venues as well over the next few days.  We'll keep you updated.

Peel Colonies Now Available!

The Peel Colonies, our newest product, is now available at DTRPG and RPGNow.

You can purchase your copy here at this link!

Seven worlds on the coreward frontier beyond Clement Sector!

The Peel Colonies are the only settled worlds in Ariel Sector.  Located to coreward of Clement Sector, Peel Subsector is the cutting edge of colonization into this new sector.  The last stops before heading into the unknown!

Laylah was the second world in the subsector to be settled.  The world was settled in 2280 by colonists from Minerva (Franklin 0401) seeking religious freedom.

New Perth is a former Australian colony which was founded in 2284.  New Perth is able to defend itself and project power through the use of Republic of Australia Naval Units which were left stranded here after the Conduit collapsed.

Peel is home to an increasingly unstable military dictatorship.  The most populous planet in the subsector as well as the namesake for the subsector was once a parliamentary democracy but is now inching towards chaos.

Neachdain is a world controlled by a rigid technocracy in which a group of fifteen people determine what is best for the entire population.  Some believe that Neachdans have delusions of grandeur while others feel that the world might someday be an expansionistic threat.

Alverca is an independent colony founded by Portuguese settlers in 2282.  The world is both fiercely Catholic and famous for its wild Carnival.

Rocroi is a small colony founded by a French eccentric, Jean-Marc Savard in 2331. Savard is now the self-styled King of Rocroi.

Ariel is a joint Israeli-Palestinian colony on which religious differences have been set aside to form a new culture.  Ariel was colonized in 2286 and named for the sector itself in an effort to become the predominate world for the sector’s future.

The Peel Colonies comes with detailed descriptions of each of these settled worlds along with information concerning the remainder of the Peel subsector.  Random encounters and adventure hooks are included for each world to get your characters into the action with a minimum of preparation.

The Peel Colonies can be used as part of a continuing campaign within Gypsy Knights Games' Clement Sector background or as part of any Traveller or science fiction setting.  These worlds can be used in concert or be taken one at a time for your own Traveller universe.

Adventure awaits in the new colonies!

Dawn Adventures 2: Hell's Paradise Is Now Available!

You can purchase the adventure at DTRPG at this link.

Dawn Adventures 2: Hell's Paradise is the second of a set of adventures by Gypsy Knights Games set in the colonies of the Dawn subsector of Tranquility Sector, located to trailing of Clement Sector.

TXE-605b, known to some as Calliope, is an untapped planet whose barren surface but breathable atmosphere and abundance of water promises to be an excellent candidate world for colonization. The Nordic Exploratory Service sent an expedition to the TXE-605 system to expand humanity's knowledge of this world. Now their vessel, NESS Arn, has not returned on schedule. The crew of the CCAS Clara Barton, a Cascadia Colonization Authority search and rescue ship, has now been tasked with finding out why the Arn has not come back from TXE-605b. Have they been attacked by pirates? Have they suffered a malfunction? Or is it something far more sinister?

Dawn Adventures 2: Hell's Paradise is an exciting adventure filled with danger and intrigue.  It comes with nine pre-generated characters, the stats and deckplans for Clara Barton, a Trailblazer-class ship used by the CCA. In addition, it also features maps of TXE-605b and the overall TXE-605 system as well as deckplans for the NESS Arn.

Although Dawn Adventures 2: Hell's Paradise can be modified for use in any Traveller setting, it is recommended that Referees have access to Clement Sector, our core setting book, to make full use of this product. It may also be helpful to own Dawn Colonies, our sourcebook covering this subsector.

Like all our products, the main intention of this book is to provide an extra spark to the Referee's imagination.

Viewer Mail 3

And now we go for the third installment of the ever-popular "viewer mail segment".  Its been a while since we did this and we've gotten a lot of questions in the email.  So let's get in there and see what we have.

1>  I've noticed that a lot of the characters and NPCs have two numbers for their age.  Why is that?  What does it mean?

In Clement Sector, we postulate that medical technology will allow for the slowing of the aging process.  These treatments usually start somewhere between the ages of 25-30.

The first listed number is the age (in standard years) of the character.  The number in parentheses is the "apparent age".  This second number is the age that the character appears to be thanks to the wonders of "modern" medicine.  So someone who is listed as being 74 (35) is actually 74 years old but appears to be a 35 year old.

2>  The tech levels in Subsector Sourcebook 1: Cascadia do not match the rest of the Clement Sector setting.  They don't match what's given in the adventures or in Clement Sector.  What gives?

When we published Cascadia, we really intended for it to be used in conjunction with the usual Traveller "high tech level" setting.  In keeping with that, the tech levels, some of the descriptions and so forth are more in line with a TL14-15 setting rather than a TL10-11 setting.

To clear this up, we're in the process of creating a version of Cascadia that will be more in line with our Clement Sector setting.  For now, the UWP chart which is in Clement Sector should be used rather than the UWPs given in Cascadia.

3>  In some of the adventures I've played in at conventions, you have presented the Cascadia Colonization Authority (CCA) as the "bad guys".  They even seem a bit shady in one of the Cascadia Adventures.  Yet they are the "good guys" in the Dawn Adventures.  Which is it?

Clement Sector (with the exception of the Hub Federation) is a collection of independent worlds.  These worlds each have their own views and goals.  Most of the other governments in Cascadia subsector are not excited about Cascadia and their expansionist intentions.  Indeed, some of them are actively working against them.  In the view of those worlds, the CCA are the "bad guys".

On Cascadia itself, there are four major political parties.  Two of those are opposed to the expansion of Cascadian influence outside their system.

However, to those who want Cascadian expansion, the CCA are definitely the heroes.  Even to those on Cascadia who are lukewarm to the idea of Cascadia gaining an empire in the Dawn subsector, the CCA and their personnel are often seen as heroes.

In short, it depends on your point of view.

4> In all of your UWP charts, there is a section called "PBG".  What does that mean?

The three numbers in that section refer to the population modifier, the number of planetoid belts in the system, and the number of gas giants in the system.  I think the latter two are self-explanatory.  The population modifier can be used to give a rough estimate of the number of people on a world.  For instance, if the population modifier is "4" and the population code in the UWP is 2, then there are approximately 400 people on that world.

5> What year is it?

The current standard year in the Clement Sector setting is 2342.  Some future products will begin to move the setting forward in time, but as of right now the setting is assumed to be in the year 2342.

6>  Are you going to be at <insert convention name here>?

Right now we have one convention that we are 100% positive that we will be attending in 2014.  The official announcement has not been made, but I will be a guest at that convention.  More on that when I can say more.

As for other conventions, right now there are no solid plans.  We'd like to go to more of them and hopefully we will be able to do so soon.

7>  Are you currently looking for writers/artists?

As far as writers go, not right now.  We have our release schedule pretty tight right now as far as projects go.  However, if you are interested in writing something for us in the future, we are happy to hear from you.  Things may change or we find that our release schedule may have some holes in it.

There is more opportunity for artists right now.  While we have art lined up for most of our upcoming projects, there is always a need for art.  If you're interested, send us something.  We may need you.

8> Where can I buy the products?  I know I can get your stuff on Drive-Thru and RPGNow.  Are there other places?

Yes!  You can get our PDFs at the d20 PFSRD online shop at this link or at the Paizo online shop at this link.

9> I'm excited about 21 Starport Places.  When will that come out?

We're excited about it too!  Looks like late July-early August right now.

10>  What's next on the release schedule?

The next things you'll see from us will be 21 Starport Places and Hell's Paradise which is the next entry in the Dawn Adventures.  After that, well, you'll have to stay tuned.  We've got some exciting stuff on the way soon and we'll be announcing it here!

Now available!

Dawn Adventures 1: The Subterranean Oceans of Argos Prime is the first in a set of adventures by Gypsy Knights Games set in the colonies of the Dawn subsector of Tranquility Sector, located to trailing of Clement Sector.

On the fringes of colonized space, settlers struggle on recently discovered worlds for land to call their own.  One such planet is Argos Prime, where the dangers of a new world are in contrast to the world's unique natural beauty.

The crew of CCA-336 have been asked by thier superiors in the Cascadia Colonization Authority to go to Argos Prime to survey the world for a possible expansion of the colony.  Can they survive the natural dangers, angry locals, and maneuver through local politics as well?

Dawn Adventures 1: The Subterranean Oceans of Argos Prime is an exciting adventure filled with danger and intrigue.  It comes with nine pre-generated characters, tons of NPCs and a bestiary of local creatures.  The adventure also features stats and deckplans for CCA-336, a Trailblazer-class ship used by the CCA.

Clement Sector Available at D20pfsrd.com store!

And as of right now, Clement Sector is also available at the d20pfsrd.com store at this link!

Clement Sector Now Available!

Our core setting book, Clement Sector, is now available!

You can pick it up at Drive-Thru RPG at this link.

Welcome to Clement Sector!

In 2210, scientists discovered a wormhole allowing travel to the opposite side of the Milky Way galaxy.  Once across, exploration teams discovered worlds far more suited to human habitation than those in star systems nearer to Earth.  Were they terraformed by some unknown race?  Are they just a coincidence in the vast diversity of the universe?

Over the ensuing years humans left Earth and began to colonize these worlds.  Nation-backed colonies.  Corporate colonies.  People who simply no longer felt compelled to remain on Earth.  The best and brightest.

In 2331, the unthinkable happened.  The wormhole collapsed leaving those in Clement Sector cut off from Earth.  Now these new worlds and new civilizations must stand on their own.

The year is 2342.  Adventure awaits!

Clement Sector is the core setting book for Gypsy Knights Games' alternate Traveller universe.  This book ties together all of Gypsy Knights Games' previous subsector sourcebooks and colony books into a vibrant and growing space opera setting.

Clement Sector contains a history of the sector and humanity's expansion in the sector.  It has detailed maps showing all 16 subsectors from those which are fully settled to those where mankind has not yet set foot.

Clement Sector also details the Zimm Drive, the method of stellar travel in this setting, and showcases five commonly seen starships.  Deckplans, art, and statistics are provided for the Rucker-class merchant ship, Luxury-class yacht, Trailblazer-class scout, Atlas-class freighter, and Farragut-class destroyer.

Clement Sector is also filled with campaign and adventure seeds to allow you and your players to jump straight into the action.  Armed with this book and the Traveller Main Rulebook, you are ready to hit the ground running!  If you crave more detail about these worlds, you can couple this book with our subesector sourcebooks and colony books for a rich tapestry on which to base your adventures.

Welcome to Clement Sector!  Adventure awaits you!

A little something for those of you following the GKG news blog and the Facebook feed.  Clement Sector should hit the online PDF stores in the next few hours.

Until then, here's some excellent art from Ian Stead of one of the ships featured in Clement Sector.

ConNooga And A Review

ConNooga was fantastic this weekend.  We had a lot of fun running the Franklin Adventures and meeting lots of new folks.  If you live in or near the Chattanooga, Tennessee region, I highly recommend that you check this convention out next year.

In other news, Cascadia Adventures 1: Save Our Ship has gotten a 4-star review from Joshua L. on DTRPG.   You can check out what Josh had to say at this link.   Thanks for the kind words Joshua!

MystiCon 2013

Mysticon 2013 was a great success last weekend.  We had a great time running the three Franklin Adventures and meeting some great folks.

Corey Spillis snapped the following photo during our last game of the weekend.  That's me behind the screen and Bert Schmid on the outside of it.  The papercraft starship is one made by Fat Dragon Games that MystiCon Gaming Director George Minter assembled and gave me as a gift.

I can't believe that February is almost over, but its true that time flies when you're having fun.  We've had a great month this month and we're really looking forward to March.

Most of February has been spent working on Clement Sector and we're hoping to have it out there to you in mid-March.  This is our core setting book and we're quite proud of it.  Still more writing to do and the art is now starting to arrive.

ConNooga tomorrow!

ConNooga starts tomorrow! We'll be running two games tomorrow and one game on Saturday!
The convention is located in the Chattanooga Choo-Choo complex in Chattanooga, TN.  All gaming events will be held in Track 29, the concert venue which is located to the real of the complex.

Game 1 - "The Movie Snobs" (Friday 2-6pm) - Following the collapse of the wormhole leading back to Earth Sector, items from Earth have become more and more valuable. Now the leader of a powerful corporation has asked the crew of Pandora's Box to obtain a rare original print of a famous film from another corporate giant's personal collection. Can they pull it off? Or will they anger someone powerful enough to end their lives?

Game 2 - "Just Another Bughunt?"(Friday 7pm - 11pm) - Diamond Enterprises CEO Maxwell Chandra has hired the crew of Pandora's Box to investigate the loss of an advance colony sent to CXD-707. Did the colonists just go rogue? Were they attacked by pirates? Or is this just another bughunt?

Game 3 - "I'm On The Lamb, But I Ain't No Sheep" (Saturday 10am - 2pm) - Captain Cramer's past has come back to haunt him. Can the crew of Pandora's Box survive? And can they turn the tables on those who would see them destroyed?

And I will be in Track 29 on Friday from 10am onward. I'll have a good stock of books for anyone who wishes to purchase! So come on out and say hello!

Two 5-star Reviews For Dade Colonies!

Well, the book came out at midnight today and we already have garnered two 5-star reviews!

Thanks Megan R. and William W.!

Now Available at this link!

Five colonies on the edge of civilized space!

The Dade Colonies are located on the far frontier of the Clement Sector.  The last stops before heading into the unknown!

Arnemuiden - The refuge of a disgraced politician and his followers from The Hub Federation.  Have they established a political utopia or simply become a haven for pirates?

Dade - An underground corporate colony used to bridge Sequoyah subsector with the Dade frontier!

Osiris - A world with a strict caste system which has evolved from a government meant to guarantee liberty!

Dashwood - A world trying desperately to maintain and spread civilized behavior while being used as an advance base for settlers and explorers!

Sarawak - A religious separatist colony with a strong desire to be left alone.  Was this desire so strong that they violated their morals and killed hundreds to maintain their privacy?

The Dade Colonies comes with detailed descriptions of each of these settled worlds along with information concerning the remainder of the Dade subsector.  Random encounters and adventure hooks are included for each world to get your characters into the action with a minimum of preparation.

The Dade Colonies can be used as part of a continuing campaign within Gypsy Knights Games' Clement Sector background or as part of any Traveller or science fiction setting.  These worlds can be used in concert or be taken one at a time for your own Traveller universe.

Adventure awaits in the new colonies!
